Welcome to HitStop. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the website at hitstop.app (including the web-based demo version) and the mobile application “HitStop” (together, the “Service”), both operated by Maneki Neko Productions Inc., a company registered in Panama (“we”, “us”, “our”).
By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
1. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you’re under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed these Terms and agrees to them on your behalf.
2. Your profile and leaderboards
HitStop does not require an account. To take part in leaderboards and have your scores tracked, you create a profile by choosing a display name (username) and a country. There is no password and no login.
When you choose a username, you agree not to use a name that is offensive, impersonates another person or brand, or infringes anyone’s rights. We may rename or remove profiles that breach these Terms.
Because profiles are not protected by a password, anyone with access to your device can play under your profile. You’re responsible for any activity that happens through your profile on your device.
We may remove scores, reset leaderboards, or block profiles that attempt to manipulate scores or leaderboards or otherwise misuse the Service.
3. The game content
The game mechanics, visual design, audio, logos, written content, and the “HitStop” name and brand on the Service are owned by Maneki Neko Productions Inc. or licensed to us. You may play HitStop, share your scores, and screenshot a result for personal, non-commercial use. You may not:
- Copy, scrape, or republish the game’s mechanics, timing data, or scoring logic
- Use the content to train machine learning models
- Build a competing product using our content or data
- Remove or obscure copyright notices
4. Your conduct
When using the Service, you agree not to:
- Cheat, automate input, or use bots, scripts, macros, or timing tools to influence your score
- Exploit bugs, glitches, or unintended behaviour to gain an unfair advantage
- Interfere with the Service or try to access parts of it you’re not authorised to
- Upload anything unlawful, abusive, or infringing when using any feature that accepts input (usernames, profile details, etc.)
- Use the Service to harass other players
5. Subscriptions, coins, and payments
Some features require a paid purchase. Prices, billing cycles, and what’s included are shown at the point of purchase.
HitStop offers two types of paid items:
- Coin packs — one-time purchases of virtual coins used to play additional rounds within the App. Coins have no monetary value, cannot be redeemed for cash, and are non-transferable.
- HitStop Pro — a subscription that removes ads and may include other benefits described in the App at the time of purchase.
Subscriptions and in-app purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed and managed by those platforms under their terms; cancel through your device’s subscription settings. Subscriptions take effect at the end of the current billing period — we don’t refund partial periods unless required by law.
The web demo version is provided free of charge and is limited to 5 turns per session. It does not include in-app purchases.
6. Free features and changes to the Service
We offer a free version of HitStop and a free web demo, and intend to keep doing so, but we don’t guarantee any specific feature will remain free, available, or unchanged. We may add, modify, or remove features, and occasionally the Service may be unavailable for maintenance or technical reasons.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is”. We do our best to make the game’s timing and scoring accurate and fair, but we don’t warrant that every measurement, score, or leaderboard entry is error-free. If you spot a problem, tell us at contact@hitstop.app and we’ll look into it.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Maneki Neko Productions Inc., its directors, employees, and contractors won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that can’t be excluded under applicable law.
9. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing your profile from the in-app settings. To request removal of your profile and associated leaderboard data from our servers, email contact@hitstop.app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we’re required to by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability, governing law) will do so.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If the changes are material, we’ll let you know through the app or website before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes means you accept the new Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Panama. Any dispute arising from or relating to the Service will be resolved in the courts of Panama, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence give you the right to bring a claim locally.
